Lion Of Judah
1) Lion of Judah are a Washington, D.C. based hardcore band on Youngblood Records(Powered Records in Europe). The new "Universal Peace" LP is their debut full-length consisting of eleven songs recorded by Don Zientara(Fugazi, Bad Brains, Minor Threat) at Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, VA. This new LP follows a busy first year in which the band released the "Soul Power" e.p. on Lockin' Out Records and appeared on the "Generations" compilation on Revelation Records. They have toured extensively in North America and Europe, having played in fifteen countries during their less than two year existence.
Musically Lion of Judah have been compared to Swiz, Burn, B'last!, early Fugazi, Bad Brains, Faith No More, and even Red Hot Chili Peppers. Lyrically Lion of Judah provides a mix of direct and existentialist takes on the social and political issues of today tempered with a dose of introspection.
Lion of Judah, as a band, stands for challenging the conventions of both society and hardcore on every level. From their self-booked tours, innovative song structures and reliance on analog recordings, to their rejection of contemporary hardcore aesthetics Lion of Judah "shines amongst the sea of mindless and boring modern hardcore acts."
